Ken Ross
PASSION - it’s what drives us, brings us together, and makes life worth living. Our passions encompass all aspects of our lives, from those we love, our ideals, hobbies, and dreams.
Ken’s passion is photography. The challenge of creating memorable images under diverse and difficult conditions, taking an idea or dream, and bringing that vision to life is what drives that passion.
Ken is often described as a “technical photographer” which really just means that he is as interested in the technology and process of photography as he is in the artistic pursuit. Since transitioning to an all-digital workflow in 2006, Ken has become increasingly fascinated with the freedom of expression created by the new digital darkroom. Through the use of tools like Photoshop and Lightroom, Ken has been able to take his photographic vision to new heights creating images that would have been impractical or impossible to achieve a few years ago.
From the B&W images created with his first SLR camera in the 80s through the advent of the digital age, Ken has continually updated his skills through training at facilities such as The Showcase School of Photography and numerous professional studio workshops.
Ken is the current president of the Southeastern Photographic Society (
www.spsatlanta.org) and is very active in the local photographic community where he frequently leads workshops and outings to help share his passion and love of photography with others. In 2011, in order to be able to dedicate even more time to instructing and mentoring other Atlanta-area photographers, Ken joined forces with long-time friend and fellow photographer Elton Saulsberry to form the F/2 Photo School (
www.f2photoschool.com).
