Phoenix's Native Trails Indian Pow Wow

On January 12th, David Sanders brought his Advanced Students to photograph the Native Trails Indian Pow Wow Performance at the Scottsdale Arts Center. Every January through April the outdoor amphitheater at the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall, just north of the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, comes alive with Native American music, dance, art and traditional foods.

Native Trails presented by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation and produced by the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, debuts its sixth season of free noontime festivals dedicated to exploring the rich and varied cultures of Native America. Musical performances using traditional instruments such as flutes, gourds and drums, a variety of tribal dances ranging from Pima dancing and inter-tribal pow wow dancing to the excitement and energy of world championship hoop dancing, and the rhythmic drumbeat in the traditional round dance will energize your spirit!
