Beginner Photo Tip:
Holiday Memories
Photo & text by Russ Burden, Denver Instructor
No matter what seasonal holiday you celebrate, getting meaningful pictures for the family album is important. Documenting each yearly celebration provides a means to record the growth that you and your loved ones experience. Make a list of what makes the holiday season special to you and record those moments digitally.
My list includes special people, moments, and events. Use the following as a baseline resource from which you can create your own. Hopefully you'll come up with others I haven't included in that they are near and dear to your heart.

Intermediate Photo Tip:
Kids in Snow
Photos & text by Russ Burden, Denver Instructor
Birthday parties, family get-togethers, parades, kids on Halloween, weddings, graduations, cutting down a Christmas tree - these are but a few of the many events that make photography fun and rewarding. These preserved moments make for wonderful additions to the family album.
Everyone has events that are special to them that make them run to a camera to capture the unfolding action. One of these for me is photographing my son when he's playing in the snow.
The following are some tips for capturing great shots of kids in snow.

Instructor Profile:
Rick Wright Exhibits at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography
Photographs by Rick Wright, Philadelphia DPA Instructor
Loaded with intellectual whimsy, poetry and science, Rick Wright's Dada-esque photographs are hardly discernable as photographs. More reminiscent of drawings, Wright resourcefully pursues the extraordinary artfulness of the quotidian and often discarded, found object remnants of day to day. His work, somewhat obtuse, existential and strange, is laced with humor and contemplative complexity.

Featured Classroom:
Carousel Studios, Miami
by Frank Lovece
Life is a carousel, my friends, so come to the Carousel ... Studios, that is, where for 10 years, co-founders Tom Gonzalez and wife Mireille Chancy-Gonzalez have made their Miami venue a photographic sweet spot in the Big Orange.
The two had already been part of the Miami photo scene for 20 years, having founded the venerable WorldWide Foto, the city's photo-supply mecca. Carousel, located nearby, fills a 5,000-square-foot building in Miami's Design District. It's near Miami International Airport, scenic U.S. 1 and I-95 - and within walking distance of beautiful Magnolia Park and Biscayne Bay, if anybody in Miami walked.

Camera Care for the Holidays
Los Angeles DPA Instructor Chuck Place gives advice on camera care while you travel this holiday season.
Whether you are staying at home for the holidays or visiting family or friends, these camera care tips will ensure that your equipment is in tip-top shape no matter the weather conditions!
Among travel photographers such as myself, camera maintenance falls into two categories, daily and location specific prep. Daily maintenance during a shoot is the usual: battery check, blow or brush dust off the sensor, wipe down the body to keep it clean, clean the lenses and filters etc. I perform these chores each day, no matter what the conditions...
