Scaring Up Great Snapshots

Want to take cool pictures in the dark this Halloween? We have just the ghoulish guide. Photographer Tony Schreck from the Panasonic Digital Photo Academy joined us on the show to teach us the digital tricks.

Photo Tips:

1) Keep the background simple and uncluttered.
Use a natural setting (front step with door as a background), background cloth (sheet) or foam core.

2) Use a more unusual angle.
Use your flash as a special effect. Light from chin up-Turn you camera upside down. Gives the same effect as when you put the flashlight under your chin to create a "spooky" look.

3) Ghostly movement effect.
Use a long exposure (slow speed shutter synch or night portrait mode). Make sure there is a source of light illumination your subject from the side or back. As your flash fires, pan your camera horizontally to create a ghostly effect.

4) Use night portrait mode when taking pictures outside with the kids. Look for a "spooky" background that sets the mood.
