Naperville River Walk
Saturday March 24
7am-10am
DPA Instructor Harry Hitzeman
Naperville river walk is thought of as one of the most picturesque locales in the Midwest, and for good reason. It sprawls over 1.75 miles along the west branch of the DuPage River, and features beautiful fountains, brick paths, covered bridges, outdoor sculptures, and memorials. Photographic opportunities abound as you stroll down idyllic riverside pathways lined with tasteful plantings. Leave the city behind and let your creativity flow as you explore the most beautiful spot in Chicago’s suburbs.
This is a perfect class for someone who wants to learn more about outdoor photography. Learn photographic framing techniques as nature interacts with different architectural elements throughout the park. Explore the concept of leading lines (shown in the following two photos,) and how they can be used to draw the viewer's eye across an image.

Learn how to use natural light as a photographic tool, and how to adapt and adjust your camera as the light shifts. The River Walk is also a perfect place to explore macro photography as you get up close and personal with the plants and flowers along the pathways. Experiment with a shallow depth of field when your photograph the flowers – learn how to beautifully focus on the flower while blurring the background.

We will meet at the dandelion fountain, located on the corner of Jackson and Webster. Please bring your fully charged digital camera, an extra charged battery (if you have one,) and any other photographic equipment you would like to use during the class. Please dress for the weather and wear your most comfortable shoes.
