Old Town
Date: Sunday, April 29th, 2012
Time: 10am to 1pm
with DPA Instructor William Morton
$99

Considered the "birthplace of California," Old Town is one of San Diego's most popular tourist destinations. Rich in history, Old Town represents the historical and cultural roots of the city of San Diego. With more than 150 shops, restaurants, museums, and a garden, this state park is a goldmine of unique photographic possibilities.

Shooting in Old Town, you will capture beautiful and original images of architecture, people, and even small details. Photograph buildings from the 1800s that are still in working order today, like the first brick courthouse and the blacksmith shop. Snap a shot of the reenactors on horse-back and get a close-up of an old-fashioned printing press.
Not only is photographing in Old Town a unique opportunity, but working and shooting next to a professional photographer will give you new skills and techniques to apply to this site, as well as wherever else you shoot! Learn to enhance the small details and accentuate the colors of a piece of fabric or machinary, find new angles when shooting buildings or statues, and experiment with wide-angle shots of whole sections of the park or macro features of a flower. Play with light and shadow and try black and white settings that fit the old-time feel.

We will meet outside of the Old Time Transit Center located at 4005 Taylor Street, San Diego, CA 92110. Please bring your DSLR or another type of digital camera that you use, a fully-charged battery, and the equipment that you can carry. You should dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes, and carry a bottle of water.
