'Tis the season for reindeer, dreidels, and the seven principles of Kwanzaa. It is also the season for towering Christmas trees, life-size toy soldiers, bright colors, elves, opulent interiors, complex architecture, and, of course, photography.
Digital Photo Academy is celebrating this delightful season with a special Holiday Season Class at an all-new venue: Tower City and Public Square. With over 100 specialty shops, 6 restaurants, a movie theater, and two hotels, there will be no shortage of activity to photograph.
Class will be held both in the (warm, dry) interior and outdoors, weather permitting. Start with learning to create a beautiful architectural image by playing with angles and using "leading lines" to guide viewers' eyes across the photo.
Then, move indoors to take advantage of the intricate ceilings and fresco art. Learn to play with dimensions using the "rule of thirds" to place focal points within the image.
Use a festively decorated tree as a background for a portrait of a smiling toy soldier. Then, learn how to approach gift-buying shoppers for a more animated one.
There is no shortage of photogenic scenes in and around the buildings, and certainly no shortage of holiday cheer. So bring a thermos of hot chocolate, your best holiday songs, and, oh yes, your camera for a wonderful winter wonderland of a class.
Even after the holiday decorations are snug in storage, there will be plenty of non-holiday photo ops!
