National Mall West Shoot
With DPA Instructor Jim Tetro

The west end of the mall has some great places to visit and to photograph. The Lincoln Memorial, Memorial Bridge, the Vietnam Memorial and the Korean War Memorial are within a short walk of each other. Take a walk with your Digital Photo Academy instructor, Vincent Knaus and visit these memorials and learn how to create great images of these iconic places.
Getting the best exposure possible can be tricky with subjects that have both bright highlights and dark shadows. Learn how to overcome these exposure problems and create images with details where you want them.
Even though this will be a fun walk, you will learn how lens choice effects cropping and how your subject relates to its background. Learn to use light, shadow and reflections to your advantage.
Please be sure to charge your battery before coming to class and bring a spare battery if you have one. Comfortable walking shoes will make the walk much more pleasant and be sure to dress for the weather. Meet the group at the stone bench to the left of the steps leading up to the memorial. The Smithsonian Metro station (Blue and Orange Lines) is about a 30 minute walk along the Mall or the Arlington Cemetery Metro station (Blue Line) is a 20 minute walk across the Memorial Bridge.
