Frelinghuysen Arboretum

With DPA Instructor Rick Gerrity

Since the Frelinghuysen Arboretum was dedicated in 1971, it has been a haven of beautiful trees, blossoming flowers, and classic architecture.  The sprawling grounds are manicured with lush greenery, the brick pathways lead to quaint gazebos and comfortable sitting areas, and the gardens bloom with color.  Join your Digital Photo Academy instructor Rick Gerrity for a morning stroll with your camera to discover all of the beautiful greenery and architecture that the Arboretum has to offer.

The Arboretum provides a unique opportunity to shoot close-ups of flowers, photograph colonial architecture, portraits of visitors, and experiment with the juxtaposition of all three!  Photograph other students in the gardens, use the buildings as a background for the flowers, and create a majestic image by photographing the buildings growing out of the green gardens into the blue sky.

Rick will show you new ways to experiment with your photography and enhance your creativity.  You will learn how to find new angles in classic architecture, shoot flowers in macro to capture the small details of a water droplet, and blur the flowers in the background for portrait photography.

This will be a particularly small and personal class capped at 8 people to give you the quality interaction with the instructor, sights, and narrow walkways that you deserve.

We will meet in the parking lot in front of the information center, Morristown, NJ 07962. Please bring your DSLR or another type of digital camera that you use, a fully-charged battery, and the equipment that you can carry.  Be sure to dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
