Judith’s career began in the late 70’s as a photojournalist working for local newspapers, The Santa Barbara Press in California, The Riverdale Press in the Bronx and The Photo District News in NYC. She also traveled extensively hired by various airlines, such as Royal Air Moroc, Pan Am, Air France and TWA. Judith was also fortunate to have experienced workshops with Ansel Adams and Yousuf Karsh, where her passion for documentary photography blossomed.

Judith’s enthusiasm for sharing her vision began with the teaching of various workshops in compositional skills to children around the world. She spent time in India where she taught photography to the Tibetan children in Dharamsala. Judith also lived with a family in China while teaching English and photography to the local school children.

Fifteen years ago she was a partner in the creation of Photoworkshop.com, one of the first photographic educational websites online, and the online newsletter, Double Exposure, both still functioning today.

Judith’s passion is environmental portraits and street photography. She has a knack for finding special moments of energy while at the same time challenging herself to achieve perfect framing. Her excitement is continuous as moments are fleeting and inspiring visions are replaced anew.

She creates wonderful series of workers and simple folk in their day-to-day rituals. She captures the spirit and flavor of a culture as one can imagine the fortitude of the people who live there. From the simplicity of the composition to the rich and warmth of the faces, her style stands apart.

Viewing her images, you feel as though you have been away on one of her excursions as she captures the local people doing what they naturally do.

Her images embrace an emotion. Recording the human soul through compassion, isolation, sadness and despair. Stopping time...revealing a secret through the eyes, portrays a story untold. The subject naturally presents themselves, when you can slow yourself down. Judith’s images are rarely planned, but captured in that split second of time, bridging the gap between fine art and documentary photography.
