Everyone has been to Soho if they live in NYC, but it is a completely different experience with the eye of a photographer and you can enhance your own vision, if you join this friendly group which will be led by a Digital Photo Academy Instructor. Meet on the East Side at 9:00 AM, on Christie and Rivington to spend 3 hours in this picturesque locale which offers powerful images in any direction that you point your lens.

Street Photography is never better than what is there in Soho, from the colorful shoppers and budding actors, to the down and outers who will pose with their own story to tell. Whether a face lined with experience, a local or an out of towner with their funky fashions, environmental portrait is a lesson that one can learn in this morning session when the light is conducive to successful imagery. There are basic techniques of capturing faces and in addition to that, you will receive tips on how to approach a stranger if you want their image. Pro Shooters all over the world know how to do this and you can too.

How about the old world architecture...

or the curious shops and brightly painted store fronts.

Whether it is the cool lighting of an off-beat club or the dizzying array of merchandise in a one-of-a-kind design shop the interiors are an entirely different category that can be a theme in and of itself, for days on end!

What about the fruit stands?  The flower displays? These are the photo ops that come alive in the MACRO format and can be found in the out-of-the-way haunts that all the designers, location scouts and stylists know about. (Each participant will even have use of a special Lensbaby Lens loaner, at no charge, and the instructor will teach you how to use this inexpensive and easy-to-master item, to manipulate the sweet spot of focus to achieve a variety of sensibilities and produce an abstract pattern within every direction you look.)

On hand will be Manfrotto tripods and reflectors, along with a variety of lighting equipment that this world wide manufacturer distributes. Your teacher is there as you relax and just "Point and Shoot," or to give more technical instruction on the equipment that will allow you to work at a more advanced level. The group is small and friendly so there is plenty of time for each no matter what their interests in theme or skill level might be.

And again, to add to the creative options, each attendee will be allowed to borrow a Lensbaby Lens that fits on their SLR camera and enables the photographer to manipulate the sweet spot of focus and render the subject in an impressionistic manner, from romantic to gothic to whimsical. Note the example herein.
