CLASS DESCRIPTION

The Beginner Photoshop class is the first course in the DPA Photoshop Lesson Plan. Even though this class is designed to introduce people to the program, we suggest this program to anyone who is not well-versed in Photoshop. Photoshop is an elaborate program, so it's crucial that you learn the basics before the intricacies.

The Beginner Photoshop course will introduce you to Adobe Photoshop, and the basics tools of the program. Even if you have used the software before, we still recommend this course to anyone who does not have a firm grasp on the basic functions. Call to see if skipping 'Beginner Photoshop' is appropiate for you....

The curriculm includes:

- Managing/Transfering your photos.

Getting pictures from memory card, to computer, to websites. (There is a specific method for doing this that keeps your photos organized and of high quality).

- Curves. (A basic introduction).

Learn how to control the exposure of your image. Adjusting the darks and lights of a photo is done with the 'Curves' tool. 'Curves' is one of the most complex functions of Photoshop, so Beginner Photoshop will introduce the basics of the instrument.

- Levels.

Another tool that helps you adjust the darks/lights of your image. 'Levels' specifically establishes the range of exposure in a photo.

- Brightness/Contrast.

Your instructor will teach you how to manipulate this fundamental aspect of photo-editing. The application of Brightness and Contrast is an important balance that is absolutely worth learning.

- Cropping.

Where you place your edges and borders is one of the most important aspects of making a powerful picture. Anyone with a Facebook account has cropped a photo before, but there are rules of framing that will help you make the right editing choices.
